DESCRIPTION:
Miniature: Oil portrait of a man with pipe, on a round wooden box measuring 86mm round, unsigned but paper inside box says "1780" (see photo). From the collection of former US ambassadors to France and Belgium.
CONDITION:
Portrait condition is excellent and crisp, some age crackling under magnification, scattered micro-fine scratches; box has damage to inside lip of bottom that is not visible when box is closed as well as on the edge near the left elbow of the gentleman.
